Greenwich Peninsula, London
The Greenwich Peninsula is billed as London’s most exciting new district for a reason. It combines new urban social living standards with spectacular views of the river Thames and Peninsula Park. The development is seen as part of the overall development of London’s docklands area. As well as the regeneration legacy following the success of the London 2012 Olympics. The project is being personally championed by the Mayor of London to drive investment and create homes. Knight Dragon is the developer responsible for the management of the project. While Jestico + Wiles are employed as the lead architect for the development. Green architects CF Moller were awarded the commission for the first residential developments to be built as part of the project.
The key focus for the area’s regeneration is sustainability. The area is designed with community in mind with a mixture of business, leisure and residential functionality. Creating a sense of social integration that is sometimes overlooked with large-scale prestige developments. The sustainability focus stems right from the building materials itself with environment and the long-term impact of the development considered throughout.
Timco Wood Solid Redwood composite decking was selected for the balcony decking on the housing development plots. The redwood colour was chosen due to it fitting in with the environmentally sustainable impact of the project as a whole. It has the look of a traditional mahogany in terms of finish and texture but because it is a wood plastic composite. Reducing the environmental impact of the project as a whole as there is no need to cut down acres of forest. All of our decking is made from FSC® certified eucalyptus and recycled HDPE plastics. Which make it a viable and sustainable material for green building projects.
Consistency and Commitment
Our track record of providing large-scale projects with the products they need in a timely fashion was a key factor in being selected for the project. The balcony manufacturer, who are one of the UK’s specialist manufacturers of pre-fabricated balconies recommended us for the project. As they know that Timco Wood is a company they can trust with a product that is reliable.
We are proud to again be chosen to be part of London’s new regeneration projects.
